In recent years the asphalt rubber technology has started to be used in European
countries. Several approaches for incorporation of crumb rubber into hot mix exist in
Europe. The most common approaches are asphalt rubber continuous blend, asphalt rubber
terminal blend and pre-prepared concentrate containing paving grade bitumen, crumb
rubber and stabilizer (for non-coherent state of the concentrate). These processes are
summarized in this article. The storage stability tests of various bitumens were performed
and their properties evaluated. Performance tests of designed mixtures were evaluated and
performance characteristics results of four porous asphalt mixtures are described in this
article.
