In this paper it was determined if asphalt rubber can be an alternative to the polimer modified bitumen. Paper presents properties of various asphalt rubber binders obtained using two neat unmodified binders, two kinds of crumb rubber as well as different amount and types of plasticizers. Results of studies indicated that asphalt rubber display either comparable or better properties than polymer modified bitumen typically used in road constructions in Middle Europe. Presented results are part of an innovative research project supported by European Union funds.
